Admission Procedure:
I. Mode – 1: (Based on JEE Main – 2020 score) for 70% of seats:
70% of the total BE/BTech seats shall be filled on the basis of percentile-based merit of JEE Main/ NEET2020 (For BIO group).
Eligibility Criteria:
The Candidate
- has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject* OR Minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST candidates) marks in a Diploma recognized by AICTE or a state board of technical education of at least 3-year duration.
- has appeared in JEE (Main)-2020.
- possesses a good moral character.
- Is a citizen of India.
- has passed 10+2 examination in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020
- is born on or before December 31, 2003.
In the final round of counselling, any seat remaining vacant through Mode-1 shall be filled through Mode – 2 and vice versa.
The admission shall be made on the percentile-based merit of JEE Main -2020.
II. Mode – 2: (Based on 10+2 marks in PCM) for 30% of seats:
30% of the total BE/BTech seats shall be filled on the basis of merit of marks secured in 10+2 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject.
Eligibility Criteria:
The Candidate
- Has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 75% marks (70% for SC/ ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject.
- Possesses a good moral character.
- Is a citizen of India.
- has passed 10+2 examination in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020
- has appeared in JEE (Main)-2020
List of qualified candidates shall be displayed on the website within 10 days of last date of receipt of applications.

For BTech (Biotechnology) and BTech (Biomedical Engineering) programme

Withdrawal of Seat/ Refund of fee:
Candidate wishing to withdraw the seat, must submit the application to IN-CHARGE, ADMISSION CELL, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology. The fee will be refunded after adjusting all the outstanding dues (if any). The candidates are advised to mention their Bank Account Number and IFSC code of the bank for the prompt refund.
