What is WBJEE?

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board will conduct the Common Entrance Examination for admission to Undergraduate Courses in Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Architecture in Universities, Govt. Colleges and Self-Financed Institutes in the State.

22nd April, 2018 (Sunday)

Paper-I (Mathematics): 11:00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.

Paper-II (Physics & Chemistry): 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Educational Qualifications for admission to Engineering/ Pharmacy Courses:

Admission to Engineering courses:

  1. Candidate must have passed the ’10 + 2’ examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Computer Application as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all the three subjects as stated above in regular class mode.
  2. Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category e.g. ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the above three subjects taken together.
  3. Must have passed English in the ‘10 + 2’ examination with at least 30% marks.
  4. The Board of the said Qualifying Examination must be recognized by the Central Government or State Government concerned.

Admission to Pharmacy courses:

  1. Candidate must have passed ’10 + 2’ examination with Physics and Chemistry along with any one of Mathematics/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Computer Application as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all the three subjects as stated above in regular class mode.
  2. Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category e.g. ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in the above three subjects taken together.
  3. Must have passed English in the ‘10+2’ examination with at least 30% marks.
  4. The Board of the said Qualifying Examination must be recognized by the Central Government or State Government concerned.

Exam Pattern: Candidates are required to appear for two papers in WBJEEB-2018.

Mode of Examination: It is the Common Entrance Examination in offline mode (OMR based examination).

  1. Paper-I – Mathematics
  2. Paper-II – Physics & Chemistry (combined).
  3. Candidates appearing in both Paper-I and Paper-II and who are awarded ranks will be eligible for admission in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy Courses in all institutes
  4. Candidates appearing in Paper-II only and who are awarded ranks will be eligible for admission only in Pharmacy Courses (except in Jadavpur University)

In Category I: Only one answer option is correct; Incorrect response will yield -1/4 (25% negative) marks.

In Category-II: Only one answer option is correct; Incorrect response will yield -1/2 (25% negative) marks.

In Category-III: One or more answer option(s) are correct; any combination of correct and wrong response will be treated as incorrect and will yield 0 (zero) mark.
