Tips & Tricks NEET

Here are 5 ways in which you can plan your exam:

1) Subject Revision: If you are a regular school going student, your focus during this precious month should be on class 11 portions, but you should keep some time to do a quickie on class 12 too.

Make a simple schedule to help you cover up the required syllabus.

Remember, Biology has twice the marks allotted than Physics or Chemistry in NEET; so, you may plan to revise Biology everyday in the morning and do Physics and Chemistry on alternate days in the afternoon, also you may focus on class 11 areas for two third of the days and do class 12 areas for the remaining time.

2) Follow these Pointers: Some key points to follow during revision are Skip all derivations. Formulas are sufficient.

Questions are more or less evenly spread over the two-year syllabus, so do not try to become perfect on a particular chapter, instead, you should be able to answer ‘easy’ questions from all chapters and ‘moderate or hard’ questions from selected topics.

Chemistry is a better bet for scoring in Multiple Choice Questions than Physics, especially Inorganic and Organic chemistry areas.

In Physics, ensure you do not leave out Heat and Thermodynamics, Properties of Matter, Optics, Electronics, Semiconductor devices etc. These are small and ‘not very difficult’ areas and are always represented in the entrance examinations.

If you are just starting your preparation, then NCERT books are your best pals for Biology revision. Do not mind those off-track tricky questions that are highlighted after NEET examinations; they constitute only a small percentage.

3) Be Familiar with Past Papers: A logical conclusion to your revision would be to get yourself familiar with past year papers. You may also attempt these papers as exams, and then correct your answers; ensure that in the process, you learn/ understand the concepts behind questions which you answered wrongly or did not attempt. In short, you should be familiar with all questions from the recent NEET exams.

4) Practice Model Papers: A very useful strategy for aspirants, who have been preparing for NEET through the year, would be to solve a number of model papers just before the actual exam. Remember to time yourselves during the model exam, recode your scores and use the data to devise your strategy for the actual exam.

For example, you may identify your best subject and decide to start with it to boost your confidence and score higher, etc.

5) Tackle Pre-Examination Jitters: Keep your cool and don’t fall for the dilemma or doubts that clutter your mind from time to time. This will be easier if you plan your day properly and be active throughout.

Include a brisk walk/yoga/exercise for an hour. This will relax and refresh you. Hydrate yourself well and eat healthy, less oily, (as far as possible) homemade food.

Do not overeat. You will feel heavy and drowsy and it will tamper your revision pace. Remain positive and move forward!
